THE SCHOOL IN THE EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK

From 16 to 22 September, our school takes part, as every year, in the European Mobility Week, an initiative present in more than 40 countries that promotes more sustainable, safe and healthy mobility habits.

Throughout the week, from the youngest in I3 to the oldest in Year 6, students have taken part in different activities such as walks, gymkhanas, games in the town’s streets and squares, nature trails, circuits and recreational activities that link urban mobility with physical activity, making the most of the urban and natural spaces of Vilassar de Mar.

The objectives of our proposal are clear:

  • To promote alternatives to private cars and encourage active mobility.
  • To raise awareness about the impact of transport on health and air quality.
  • To encourage walking as a safe and environmentally friendly option.
  • To enhance knowledge and care of our town’s natural and cultural heritage.
  • For our students to become agents of change capable of transferring positive habits to their family and social environment, showing that moving around on foot and responsibly in the city is both possible and beneficial, and contributes to personal well-being and the care of our surroundings.

Through the areas of Physical Education and Health Education, these actions aim to educate in civic and healthy values, integrating safe mobility into the school curriculum. Education for mobility is not just about learning rules and traffic signs, but about promoting a change of mindset that helps us build a more humane, peaceful and welcoming town.

Our participation in the European Mobility Week is one more step in the school’s commitment to fostering values of health, sustainability and coexistence. You can find more information by clicking here.
